It is February 2021, and of all the things, people, and places I love in this world, I truly love to help others get organized.  I invite you now to see your vision in a new light.  Do you really need all the stuff that is sitting in your house, garage, office, or other precious space?  Or are you tired of it and want to see it go away?

Stop depriving yourself (and maybe your loved ones) of the opportunity to enjoy your space!  The most common statement from clients when trying to edit & purge what they no longer need is "I better keep it in case I need it one day".  or "I'd hate to have to go out & buy a new one".

Remember that vision you have?  It's all in the perception.  Instead of asking yourself "What if I throw something out that I need later", ask yourself "What if I keep a whole bunch of stuff that I never end up using?"

You might be adding more value to your life, family, and loved ones by giving them the gift of a clutter free space.

Are you looking for some handy tips to keep your backyard, patio, or garage organized this summer?  When was the last time you cleared out the garage or outdoor storage space?  If it has been a while, fear not & give it a go now.
Start by creating designated zones.  It is easy for outdoor spaces to be taken over by everyone's stuff.  Assign separate areas for gardening, children's toys, BBQ, dining, gadgets, etc.  Each area does not have to be big... if has to function and make you smile.
Next, assign a home for everything so there is appropriate storage space when not being used.  If you have more stuff than space, ask yourself what you really need.  Discard or donate what you don't need.  Enjoy your surroundings in your outdoor space.  Smile.
If you are looking for some help because all of this is easier said than done, An Organized Project can help you!  Virtually or in person, we are here for you.

Being Thankful

Being thankful...

True, we are confined to our homes and many of us are not able to work.  Yes, this is leading to concerning financial hardships.  However, this is also bringing changes, new ways of conducting business, and in many ways is a time of growth.

There is a lot that we have no control over, however as each day emerges, one thing has stuck in my mind through this ordeal... We are very fortunate.

All of us who are practicing social distancing and have imposed a lockdown on ourselves must appreciate how privileged we are.  We have a home to be confined to.  We have running water, hot water, cleaning supplies, power, internet, telephone, & washing machines.

The health & safety of our friends, families, acquaintances, clients, and organizer communities are very important to us.  Even though we can not organize together in person right now, we would still love the opportunity to work together.  Please Call, Text, Email, Zoom chat ... whatever will help you the most during this time, we are here for you!

Organize, Declutter, & Simplify as we Spring forward this month!
Picture
Are you ready to be organized in Spring 2020?  Ready or not, Daylight Savings will be here on March 8th.  Relax.  Take action on getting yourself organized once and for all.  Living and working in an organized can eliminate stress.  With so much talk, media, and news about staying healthy lately, remember to treat your own health and safety as your number one priority.   Be organized > Eliminate stress > Stay healthy.
  1. Wash your hands with soap & water.  Does this need further explanation?
  2. Eat healthy foods.  Have healthy foods accessible.  It's a great idea to have a small stock of food in the refrigerator and freezer in the event you need to stay home.
  3. Living and working in an organized environment can eliminate stress. Take a few minutes to organize one thing- a drawer, a shelf, or a desk top.
Do you need some assistance or motivation to do the above?  A phone call is free, and An Organized Project is happy to help.  Happy Healthy Spring 2020!

Organize.  Declutter.  Simplify.

Welcome to 2020!  It's time to take action and focus on getting yourself organized once and for all!  The beginning of a new decade is the perfect time to get started.
A few practical decluttering methods can keep your space organized with minimal effort, so you can function in the peaceful, livable space you’ve been dreaming of.

  1. Clear the Entryway.   A Clutter-free first impression is important to the eye of anyone walking in, including you!  Create designed areas to toss your keys, purse, sunglasses, etc. as soon as you enter.  Simple hooks or a small floating shelf work great.  A decorative basket works wonders to hide shoes & large bags.  Plus, you will have a default system to keep track of where you put everything when you came in!
  2. Create a Home for Everything You Own.  It is so much easier to put things away when everything has a place to go back to.
  3. Keep Kitchen Countertops Clear.  The kitchen serves many needs for everyone beyond meal preparation, including homework station, mail drop area, & home office.  Use a pretty paper tray for mail and designate a drawer with organized sections for paper, pens, & pencils.
  4. Make Your Bed.  Making your bed each day is a simple way to instantly feel in control & organized.
  5. Get a second opinion.  Having trouble deciding what to keep?  Ask a friend, family member, or Your Professional Organizer to help you!
Happy New Year & Happy Organizing!

Let this be the year that you will be in control of your life, time, and surroundings throughout the Holiday season!  The Holidays are meant to be a time of joy, celebration, and thanks, so grant yourself the gifts of preparation and organization to skate through the season with ease and happiness.

                    1.  Prepare your home. Purge unused items and donate them. (It’s is the end of the year and this                                        could  be a tax write off too!)

                    2.  Plan and Prepare Meals.  Take a day to plan a menu.  Shop, prepare meals, separate into portions,                                and freeze them.  When the days get shorter and more busy, dinner will already be prepared.

                    3.  Get your serving dishes ready.  When was the last time you pulled those large serving dishes out?                               Make sure all dishes and swerving pieces are ready and clean for the Holiday meal.

                    4.  Decide what you can do ahead of time. Many desserts can be prepared ahead of time, Wash and                                 prep vegetables to save time on the day of the Holiday dinner.

                    5.  Allow a Professional to Help You.  Contact Laura for a free consultation.  A Professional                                                   Organizer will help you to map out the space in your home for guests, plan a shopping trip,                                               organize the space to accommodate for guests, and provide you some peace of mind .  Together                                   we  will focus on a Happy Thanksgiving and Holiday season!

The Holidays can bring out the best in you instead of taking the best out of you.   Be kind to yourself, enjoy happy times, and make memories with each other’s company.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Nix The "File Pile"

Is your "File Pile" causing causing chaos in your life?   It may seem like there isn’t enough time to keep your workspace organized as things circulate through on a daily basis, however with a formulated system to meet your wants and goals, maintaining order can take 5 or fewer minutes per day.
Follow these key tips and watch your workspace fall into place .
  1.  File Now, do not wait for Later!  Later is rarely a good idea.  There is no time like the present.
  2.  Stop rearranging piles of paper.  Instead put all paperwork and office items in their designated place immediately.  A constant shifting of paper piles with the intention of later filing, tossing, or shredding can be the opposite of calming.  With an established system there is no need to spend time looking for things and shuffling piles. You will be able to spend your time working and enjoy being clutter free!
  3. Archive completed files.  When a project is complete, put all of the materials together and file them away. Keep your “working folders” for projects in progress.
  4. Purge the Paper.  Recycle or shred everything that is not increasing your work output, production, or efficiency.  Not sure how to decide if keeping or shredding is necessary? Proceed to Tip # 5.
  5.  Allow a Professional to Help You.  Contact Laura for a free consultation.  A Professional Organizer is not afraid to sort through the piles of paper & organize the contents into "Keep", "Recycle", or "Shred", then follow through on the action.  Together we will focus on the future of a functional new office space!
The amount of effort you put into creating and maintaining an efficient workspace area will pay off in a big way!  You will be able to spend valuable time focusing on your work, bringing a sense of calmness, clarity, and peace to your mind.
